Durable and efficient 9.6 m3 loader bucket

Jydsk Stenindustri has a custom made JST loader bucket for their Volvo L260. Now they can load quicker and work more efficiently

Customised loader bucket

Jan Sylvestersen is a Production Manager at Jydsk Stenindustri’s quarry in Skygge. A former machine operator, he has a clear opinion on how a loader bucket should be designed to work optimally in a sand pit. That’s why he’s happy that JST has given him the freedom to design exactly the buckets he wanted.

“We’re very keen to make sure it’s easy to fill, so it costs less in diesel. That’s why we had it customised.”

Jan Sylvestersen carefully considered how the customised 9.6 m3 loader bucket should be made, both in collaboration with the machine operator, Brian Svendsen, and based on his own experience. “We’re very keen to make sure that it’s easy to fill, so it costs less in diesel. That’s why we had the loader bucket customised. Both the company and the tractor shovel drivers are very satisfied, so it must have been designed well,” says a satisfied Jan Sylvestersen.

H450 high-strength steel makes the loader bucket exceptionally strong

Jydsk Stenindustri has two JST loader buckets for their Volvo L220 and a 9.6 m3 loader bucket for their Volvo L260, which is the latest addition.

“The majority is made of H450 high-strength steel, so the bucket can last as long as the machine. Then we don’t have to spend time welding it.”

The new loader bucket is made primarily from H450, which is 3-4 times stronger than regular structural steel. The cutting edge is made from HB500, which is even harder. At the same time, both the base and sides are reinforced. The choice of materials and design should ensure that the bucket can last as long as the loader. “The majority of the bucket is made of H450 high-strength steel, so the loader bucket can last as long as the machine. Then we don’t have to spend time welding it. Doing that costs both production losses and time,” explains Jan Sylvestersen.

Loads a lorry with 2.5 bucket loads

Machine operator Brian Svendsen is very pleased with the new customised loader bucket.

“It’s a good bucket. Especially the way it’s constructed. Now we can load a lorry with just 2.5 bucket loads.”

Brian says he uses the 9.6 cubic metre bucket to load sand and gravel into the sorting plant and to load the lorries. The bucket holds approximately 15-17 tonnes of material. “It’s a good bucket. Especially the way it’s constructed. Now we can load a lorry with just 2.5 bucket loads,” says Brian Svendsen.
